This year I have been thinking about going abroad
after finishing university to learn a new language and know about new cultures.
However, when I think about it, I imagine myself working in a job and earning
money, but never going as a volunteer.
On the one hand, being a volunteer must be very
comforting as you are helping other people without receiving anything back.
Sometimes we focus too much on material things and we don’t realize that the
best moments in life are those which we spend with other people. It doesn’t
matter if it is going out with a friend or helping an unknown family. If you go
abroad as a volunteer, it is not only the satisfaction that you feel by helping
people, but also the new things that you learn about different cultures and places.
On
the other hand, everybody needs money for living, and by being a volunteer,
money is something you don’t have. Besides, if you go abroad you don’t see your
family and friends for a long time, and depending on the place you go to, you
can get sick.
In conclusion, I wouldn’t mind going abroad as a
volunteer because I would visit and know new places and I could help people. However,
it could be dangerous if I got seriously ill. And I would need to save money
before going abroad just in case I decide to come back some day.
